Swim Suit Shopping

Let me just take a break from all this painting, and get on my soapbox.

I
HATE swimsuit shopping!! Especially for my 11 year old daughter.

Who decided that girls in their teenage years need to show over 90% of their skin? Who? Let me at 'em. 'Cause I'd be danged if I'm going to let my 11 years old walk down the beach for anyone of the male gender to lust after.

You read that right. Lust after. He's a male with hormones, he's human, he lusts.

I cannot tell you how sick I got after looking in the stores at 4 triangles barely sewed together calling themselves a swimsuit and selling for $48.00. Oh, they were on sale for 40% off. I guess that's supposed to make up for the fact that they're 90%
NOT THERE!!

HELLO!!!
Does anybody hear me??

Now, I'm not a prude. (You've seen my beach pictures from last year!) I don't expect my child to be wearing long shorts with a t-shirt to the beach. Something that covers the b-tt cheeks nicely, and covers up "the girls" up top so she doesn't flash everybody and their brother is all I'm asking for. She's not for hire, if you know what I mean. (And, I don't want any ugly comments from any of you. You choose what you and/or your daughters wear. This is my choice.)

Finally,
fin-al-ly, we ended up at Sears-out of desperation, mind you-only to find the most wonderful thing: a modest swimsuit. In the women's department.

She put it on while I was on my cell phone with dh, and I was going off to him about all this, when I said, "Well, hallelujah, I think we have a winner. How much is it?
$68.00???!!???? What?!?"

I was in between a rock and hard place. I finally decided we were getting it if only for the sake that we were paying more for a
whole swimsuit. And modesty, of course.

When the lady scanned it, she said, "That will be $50.93."

I did a happy dance, y'all. Right there in Sears.

And my daughter was a tiny bit embarrassed. But I didn't care.

Now, we can go to the beach. And actually walk down the shore.

Oh, you want a picture? (Do I know you, or what?)

I HATE swimsuit shopping for me! But it was a huge thing I went through with my girls too. We didn't allow them to wear bikinis and I don't know, but they might still be a bit miffed at us for it but when they lived with us it wasn't happening!
I think y'all found a really cute one, I love it!

I cover myself because at 37 nobody wants to see me in a biking.
My 13 year old however looks fabulous in a bikini (so not fair). I agree with you though, she is not for sale. And thankfully she does not want that kind of attention from boys (yet). Last year she chose to wear a modest bikini top and boys swim shorts that went down to her knees. Cute and modest.

I agree with you. What's the deal with the swimsuits these days and do they really swim in them??!! You would think they would fall off or creep further up! I am lucky because my daugher does not like to show herself off in a swimsuit so we don't have too tough of a time agreeing on one.

I am with ya. I am so glad my Olivia is just 9 and she wants the "granny" suits still! I dread shopping for myself one! Yuck!

Ugh. I totally agree. I won't even buy a 2 piece for Lydia! I can't imagine what it will be like when she's 11!

Having boys should be easier. But it's not. At least I don't have to buy the things. My oldest, especially doesn't want to look at everything some retailers want girls to share. He's going to be some modest young woman's knight in shining armor. (My youngest is, thankfully, still young.)

I read this and found it pretty balanced. It's called the Modesty Survey. I hope the link works. It doesn't change anything--just interesting.

Oh!! And that is a really sweet suit. Love the colors and the style. My niece would like that!

Well, I can totally relate. Try buying one for a 13yo who is built more like a 20yo (if you know what I mean)!! We don't do bikinis...I've never, ever had one on. Way too much stuff showing in my opinion. I like the one you found really well. Maybe we'll have to check out Sears soon to see if we can find a similar one. It's crazy that it takes so much work just to find a swim suit to cover all the vital parts! LOL!

you can always go with Speedo. Since they are for sport swimmers they stay put and don't "creep"

Good for you. I've never been able to wear a bikini either.

It is, however, incredibly easier to project yourself as the sexiest at the beach by putting on sexy bikinis available for sale at http://www.verysexybikini.com. This statement holds true for the sole reason that as soon as you make your choice from the whole array of swim wears offered by us, they would perfectly complement your body, thereby making your figure attractive to the young and old alike. So, buy swim suit from us immediately and enjoy your day at the beach.
